La Uruca (refugee section of Costa Rica's immigration (DGME), San Jose

Schedule & opening hours 

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 0700 to 1100 hrs: for appointments only.

Thursday Friday, 0600 to 1100 hrs: for everything else - submitting documents, finger receipt, updating your contact details, etc without the need of an appointment (walk-in). Remember to carry your case number (expediente number).

• If you are only submitting documents, other person's can physically do the submission for you. Everything else requires your presence.
• When you arrive, ask the person at the door which of the two lines apply to you. The shorter line to the right tends to apply in your kind of case.
• After submitting documents, the officer will print a receipt document which both parties will sign and a copy of which you will receive.

Getting there by bus

. Take bus from the 'Merced' terminal (next to the church at the end of one of the busy San Jose streets), saying you want a bus for "La Uruca Migración". The bus leaves every 20 minutes, starting from 0500.
