In another post, we discussed how to do a return border crossing as a Costa Rica - based expat (using the international border town of Paso Canoas as an illustration).
This post briefly introduces Transgolfo, a bus company that offers bus services through various towns and cities in the Southern Golfito region of Costa Rica.
For instance, you can get frequent bus service from Paso Canoas to Laurel, La Cuesta, Ciudad Neily, Río Claro y Golfito and Zona Sur every 30 to 60 minutes during the day.
Here are the bus schedules for Golfito, Laurel and Neily respectively. |
I took the bus from Paso Canoas to Ciudad Neily. Depending on the time and number of people needing to stop the bus along the way, the transit time is roughly 45 minutes at most. As shown above, the buses run from as early as 0530 hrs until 1730 hrs, every 30 minutes (with the exception of the 2nd and 3rd buses that leave at 0615 hrs and 0700 hrs).

- If you are doing the border crossing in Paso Canoas and want to go to another relatively nearby town within Costa Rica, you can find the TransGolfo bus station on the same side as the Costa Rica departure tax office on the mainroad between the 2 immigration checkpoint offices.
