Airline tickets with AA for immigration departments

Upon arriving at certain ports that are not in your country of citizenship or residence, you may need to prove that you are scheduled to leave the country before your entry visa expires. An airline ticket is one means of proof. Here are steps for preparing this proof.

  1. Start this following process as close in time before your needing to show this proof. This is ideal because, many airlines allow passengers a grace period of usually 24 hours to pay for a reservation. During that given period, the reservation remains authentic, valid and legal. Even an immigration officer with sour intentions might have a harder than usual time discrediting the 'on-hold' reservation. To avoid any questions from more meticulous officers, some travelers select to show only the sections that show that the flight information while hiding any sections that show the reservation is 'on hold'.
  2. Go to aa.com
  3. Select your language preference. To do this, use the drop down menu in the top right corner of a desktop computer to select the country where that language is spoken. I think that your own language is ideal so that you can fully understand the meaning of the fine print. Do not worry about whether the immigration officer understands your language. They are usually used to this type of issue and tend to hunt through documents for only certain details, regardless of whether they speak the language of your document.
  4. Enter basic flight information like the following.
    1. departure and arrival locations
    2. travel dates that comply with visa restrictions. If the entry visa lasts for 30 days, your departure date may be 20 days after your date of arrival at the immigration department.
    3. number of passengers and
    4. whether the flight is one- or two-way
  5. Check your email for an email with the subject 'AA.com Itinerary Summary'.
  6. Within the subject line of the opened email, you should see options to print or open the email in a separate window. Select either of these. Either can work. However, my preference is to print the itinerary in the PDF format. You can show immigration personnel the PDF of the email itinerary, even if you do not have an internet connection when you are in front of them. Screenshots of the confirmation email are also ideal, especially if your mobile device does not support the PDF format.
  7. Forward a copy of the itinerary (like in PDF format) to your mobile device. Ensure that the device can be used to view your chosen format.
